Private Label Gloves Guide for Importers

Private-label gloves are a specification-control project before they are a branding project. The glove, retail box, barcode, master carton and supporting documents must all identify the same approved SKU; attractive artwork cannot correct a mismatch between them.

Private Label Gloves Guide for Importers

Private Label Is More Than Printing a Logo

A private-label glove project combines a qualified product, accurate packaging, traceability and a repeatable reorder plan. Buyers often focus first on box appearance, but most expensive mistakes come from mismatched specifications, incorrect size ratios, outdated artwork or documents that do not match the product inside.

Choose the Product Route

The lowest-risk route is usually an existing glove specification with customized packaging. Changing glove color, nominal weight, texture, formulation or performance requirements may create a separate production minimum and require new sample approval. State clearly whether the project is packaging-only or a genuinely custom glove.

Why MOQ Answers Differ

Reddit wholesale discussions show offers ranging from small warehouse lots to full-container programs. That spread reflects inventory, printing and production conditions, not one industry-wide MOQ. For private label, the controlling minimum may come from retail-box printing, master-carton printing, the number of sizes, print colors or a custom glove production run.

Prepare an Artwork Control File

  • Brand name, logo and approved colors
  • Product identity, material and intended-use wording
  • Size and quantity statements
  • Manufacturer, distributor or importer information as required
  • Country of origin, lot coding and shelf-life fields
  • Warnings, storage instructions and destination language
  • Barcode, SKU and carton marks

Give every proof a version number and approval date. Approve the retail box and master carton together so warehouse markings agree with the inner product.

Check Documents Against the Exact SKU

Do not place a certification logo or medical claim on artwork merely because a supplier has a document somewhere in its files. Match manufacturer, model, material, intended use and applicable market requirement. The importer should have qualified regulatory advice for the destination before mass printing.

Use Samples in Two Stages

First approve the glove: fit, dimensions, color, weight or thickness, texture and performance. Then approve a packaging mock-up or printed sample: colors, text, opening, count, barcode readability and carton fit. Retain signed or sealed references for production inspection.

Plan the First Reorder Before the First Order

Record lead time for glove production, packaging printing, inspection and freight separately. Keep editable artwork files, dielines and barcode records. After launch, track sales by size and customer complaints. Those data should determine the second order, rather than repeating the original size mix automatically.

Protect Brand Consistency

Create a one-page brand specification covering approved logo files, colors, typography, size coding and product naming. Use the same names on the purchase order, box, carton, barcode database and sales page. Before dispatch, photograph every size and the corresponding master carton. This simple record helps resolve warehouse mistakes and prevents an old artwork version from returning on a repeat order. If the responsible company address or intended-use wording changes, route the revision through formal approval before printing.

Private-label questions buyers ask before approving artwork

Why can packaging MOQ exceed the glove MOQ?

At EASTGLOVES, small trial orders of around 100 boxes normally use neutral, unbranded packaging. Custom printed retail boxes are most commonly arranged at 1,000 boxes or more. Below 1,000 boxes, customization can be discussed, but the buyer pays the box and printing cost separately; confirm size versions, print colors and any unused packaging before approval.

What should the artwork approval file contain?

Use one dated PDF or proof showing every panel, size mark, barcode, carton mark, country-of-origin statement and required warning. Written approval should identify the exact revision so an old file cannot be used by mistake.

Should a new buyer print packaging immediately?

A neutral-pack trial can verify fit, quality and market response before committing to a large printed-box run. If branded packaging is essential, approve a physical packing sample or accurate production proof before mass printing.

How are barcode mistakes prevented?

Provide barcode numbers in a controlled list, require a scan check on the proof and finished box, and link each code to one size and SKU. Carton labels should be checked against the retail boxes during pre-shipment inspection.
