OEM Disposable Gloves Packaging Guide for Importers

For an OEM glove order, lock the product before designing the box. Material, weight, sizes, count and intended-use wording determine what the artwork must say; approving graphics before these points are fixed is how costly revisions and mismatched cartons begin.

OEM Disposable Gloves Packaging Guide for Importers

Define the Packaging Level

OEM packaging can mean a label on neutral stock, a custom retail box, a custom master carton or a fully coordinated retail and logistics program. Ask the supplier to quote each level separately. This prevents a buyer from comparing a neutral-box price with a fully printed private-label price.

What Controls Packaging MOQ

Printing method, box board, number of colors, surface finish, size variants and master-carton requirements can all set minimum quantities. A glove factory’s production MOQ and a packaging printer’s MOQ are different numbers. Reddit private-label discussions across product categories frequently highlight the same lesson: excessive packaging variants consume cash and leave slow-moving inventory.

Retail Box Checklist

  • Correct product name, material and intended use
  • Size shown clearly on multiple visible panels
  • Pieces per box and powder status
  • Lot, manufacturing or expiry fields where applicable
  • Storage, warnings and required destination language
  • Barcode and SKU tested in the buyer’s system
  • Manufacturer and responsible-party information as required

Master Carton Checklist

Confirm boxes per case, size, gross and net weight, carton dimensions, carton strength, shipping marks, lot identification and country of origin. The outer carton should let a warehouse identify the product without opening it. If mixed sizes are allowed, document the packing rule and mark the carton clearly.

Test More Than Appearance

A beautiful box can still fail if the gloves are difficult to dispense, the opening tears, the carton crushes or the barcode does not scan. Approve a physical packaging mock-up. Pack the expected number of gloves, check box bulging, perform handling and stacking trials, and confirm the retail boxes fit the stated master-carton pattern.

Control Revisions

Use one final PDF proof plus the editable source file, dieline and color references. Record revision number, approval date and approver. Do not approve corrections only through scattered chat messages. Before repeat production, compare the new proof with the last approved version and update any address, warning, standard or barcode information deliberately.

Lower-Risk Launch Plan

For a new brand, reduce unnecessary colors, finishes and unique box structures. Use one coherent design system across sizes and distinguish sizes with a controlled label or color panel. Never simplify mandatory information merely to reduce printing cost. A practical packaging program should be easy to inspect, store and reorder as well as attractive on the shelf.

Plan for Transport and Storage

Retail packaging is part of the logistics system. Confirm how many boxes fit in a master carton without crushing, how cartons stack on the chosen pallet and whether printed surfaces scuff during handling. Ask for gross weight, carton dimensions and a palletization plan based on the actual finished box. Warehouse temperature and humidity may also affect board strength. A packaging approval should therefore include appearance, dispensing, carton fit and transport performance rather than only a screen proof.

Private-label questions buyers ask before approving artwork

Why can packaging MOQ exceed the glove MOQ?

At EASTGLOVES, small trial orders of around 100 boxes normally use neutral, unbranded packaging. Custom printed retail boxes are most commonly arranged at 1,000 boxes or more. Below 1,000 boxes, customization can be discussed, but the buyer pays the box and printing cost separately; confirm size versions, print colors and any unused packaging before approval.

What should the artwork approval file contain?

Use one dated PDF or proof showing every panel, size mark, barcode, carton mark, country-of-origin statement and required warning. Written approval should identify the exact revision so an old file cannot be used by mistake.

Should a new buyer print packaging immediately?

A neutral-pack trial can verify fit, quality and market response before committing to a large printed-box run. If branded packaging is essential, approve a physical packing sample or accurate production proof before mass printing.

How are barcode mistakes prevented?

Provide barcode numbers in a controlled list, require a scan check on the proof and finished box, and link each code to one size and SKU. Carton labels should be checked against the retail boxes during pre-shipment inspection.
